Soul’n Blues Cruise to the National Parks of Dalmatia

Soul’n Blues Cruise to the National Parks of Dalmatia (8 Days/7 Nights, approx. 100 km )

Instead of going to a concert whilst on holiday, take the concert with you on holiday! Our new Soul’n Blues Cruise, 01 – 08th July 2017, through the National Parks of South Dalmatia aims to do exactly that, whilst turning the Adriatic into the backdrop of your live holiday soundtrack.

Even the ships name suites the occasion: a week long cruise on board the My Melody, a 40m long luxury motor sailor, will navigate the natural treasures of the Dalmatian coastline, including the Krka National Park with its majestic waterfalls as well as the Kornati National Park and its 150 small islands and isles strung like a pearl necklace through the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. Cultural highlights include the UNESCO world heritage sites of Trogir, Sibenik, and Zadar. As with all Islandhopping tours this cruise will not lack activity, as you explore the Island destinations during the day by bike.

The deep and delightful soundtrack of the Soul’n Blues experience will be delivered by Arno Hass, Agathe Paglia and Moritz Schreiber. The trio of professional musicians deliver musical range from acoustic jazz to Nina Simone classics to new age soul by Bruno Mars. During the boats crossings, the band jams with the passengers. In the evenings a concert is delivered with each new day offering a new stage. Be it on board, in the main square of the 3000 year old city of Zadar, as background music in an exquisite restaurant, or in the ambience of a traditional Croatian Konoba. Enjoy your live summer soundtrack as you experience the highlights of Dalmatia.

1st day (Sat) Trogir (embarkation) - Sibenik

Individual journey to Trogir. Check-in on the Melody between 2.00 PM and 2.30 PM. At 3.00 PM it is time to cast off. Enjoy the fresh sea air on the first crossing to the charming town of Sibenik. Before getting there the Melody anchors in a quiet bay for our first refreshing dip in the sea. After dinner, a guided city tour awaits us. The beautiful square in front of the St. Jacob Cathedral – probably the most beautiful sacral building on the entire Adriatic coast – is the perfect stage for a saxophone solo.

2nd Day (Sun) Sibenik - Skradin – National Park of Krka - Vodice (approx. 13 km by bike)

In the morning the ship takes us into the lower part of the Krka River and continues along the many river bends as far as Skradin. From here we explore by excursion boat or on foot the beautiful Krka National Park, with its unique, totally natural waterfalls. At lunch time the Melody will leave from Skradin and take us to Vodice, the starting point of our first small bike ride. In the evening our musicians play for us in a selected harbour bar in Vodice.

3rd Day (Mon) Vodice - Zadar (approx. 27 km by bike)

From Vodice, we cycle in the morning to the island of Murter, which at Tisno is connected to the mainland by a moveable bridge. The ship picks us up again at a quiet pier and takes us to Zadar, which was for centuries the political, cultural and spiritual centre of Dalmatia. There, we go on extensive guided walk through the lanes of the lively historical centre shaped by 3.000 years of history. Especially fascinating are the spectacular “Salute to the Sun”and the famous Sea Organ (both works of the architect Nikoa Basic). Later on, the main square of the old town of Zadar turns into an impressive open air stage of today’s evening concert.

4th Day (Tue) Zadar - Bozava - Sali (Dugi Otok) (approx. 40 km)

After crossing to Bozava in the morning, you can discover today the delightful island of Dugi Otok on an exciting bike tour along a fabulous panorama road leading to Sali. This road offers innumerable unforgettable views onto the neighbouring islands floating in deep-blue sea. Alternatively, you can enjoy a carefree time on board of the Melody, which lands in Sali in the afternoon. In the popular music bar of Sali, you can enjoy another evening concert played by our musicians.

5th Day (Wed) Island of Dugi Otok – Cruise through the Kornati archipelago (approx. 2 hrs on foot)

The Melody takes you in the morning to the deep bay of Telascica. A stroll in the eponymous nature park takes you along the impressive steep cliffs of the coastline and later to the famous Silver Lake known from the film version of Winnetou.  Then follows a cruise through the Kornati National Park, an archipelago of crystal clear water known for its species-rich underwater world. Your destination is the exquisite restaurant Opat on the island of Kornat, where a gala dinner accompanied by Jazz music is waiting for you.

6th Day (Thu) Opat - Primosten - Rogoznica (approx. 15 km by bike)

In the morning the boat takes us to Primosten. From there we cycle along the coastline to Rogoznica, where there is enough time left to make a beautiful walk along the promenade and to enjoy a dip in the sea. After dinner, the opening concert of our musicians takes place on board under the starry sky of Rogoznica.

7th Day (Fri) Rogoznica - Solta - Trogir (15 km)

Crossing from Rogoznica to the island of Solta. Olive and fig trees and farmland surround the streets. The spicy smell of lavender and rosemary will follow us throughout the whole tour around the silent island until we reach the village Grohote. During mid day our last cruise takes us back to Trogir. Here you may join a guided city tour through the world cultural heritage old town. After the captain’s dinner on board, your Dalmatian tour ends with a brilliant final concert by our musicians playing for you on the lively harbour promenade of Trogir.

8th Day (Sat) Trogir (Disembarkation)

Things to note

The musicians on the Soul' Blues Cruise

Agathe Paglia can look back on more than 20 years of stage experience. She inherited her love for music from her mother, a classically trained alto-singer. But classics never attracted the young musician, last but not least because of her deep “black” voice that colleagues describe and treasure as a mixture of Etta James, Janis Joplin and Amy Winehouse. Although being also educated in dance and choreograph, it soon became clear that singing was her true passion. She gained her first experiences as a front woman with bands such as Daryl Christopher’s X-Change, Blue Eyed Soul and Funk Affair. Presently, she sings in the front row of two formations. As the head of the Agathe Paglia Band, she uses her extensive network to engage professional musicians for her band depending on event and budget. From Jazz to Blues, from Soul to Funk and Rock – she is by now at home in all genres. This flexibility is paying off, whether as a “sub” or as a soloist at various gospel events.

Arno Haas was born and grew up in the Black Forest. He is considered one of the most versatile and booked-out German saxophonists. From 1989 until 1994, he studied in Berne at the Swiss Jazz School. Since then, he has been travelling around the world, working as a “freelance musician” in the most varied musical styles and with the greatest in the field. Cooperation with: Al Jarreau, Paul Kuhn, Brian Bromberg, Wolfgang Dauner, Joo Kraus, Helene Fischer, Nino De Angelo and many others. He plays at concerts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Italy, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, the Ukraine, Russia, Rumania, USA, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and China. He participated in numerous CD-productions as a “sideman”.  His own studio albums “Magic Hands” and “Back to you”, which he recorded in Los Angeles, were highly praised.

Moritz Schreiber Drums and percussion are his craft and his livelihood. For several years now, he has been teaching at the Musikwerkstatt Tettnang and at the drum school Harsch in Sigmaringen. He also conducts workshops for Cajon, mainly in southern Germany. Engagements at CD-productions or at concerts with various regional and trans-regional bands as well as orchestras in the field of brass and accordion music are listed in his vita.  In his current band projects – JazzQ, dan & the desperadoes and the beauty and the beatsz – he proves his  versitility extending from Jazz and Swing to Country and the classics of Rock history, which he sometimes interprets in surprising rhythms.

Should some activities require a bit more in the way of physical fitness, the tour guide will point this out.
